The Formovie Theater ultra-short throw projector, which nabbed the top spot in the Triple Laser category at the 2022 Laser TV Showdown hosted by ProjectorCentral and ProjectorScreen.com, is now available for purchase from the Formovie website and select websites for $3,499. It was originally announced in July.

In the Laser TV Showdown, the Formovie Theater received top scores in the categories for Color Accuracy/Skin Tone and Focus/Detail/Geomertry in SDR Day Mode, Contrast in SDR Dark Reference Mode, and Contrast/Tone-Mapping and Black Level/Shadow Detail in HDR Dark Reference Mode. In the close race between the six different tri-laser projectors its final Image Quality Score was 9.08, just above the LG HU915QB, which received an Editor's Choice designation in our recent review.

The 4K (3840x2160) Formovie Theater is a single-chip DLP projector that uses ALPD (Advanced Laser Phosphor Display) 4.0 RGB+ technology, which combines RGB lasers and phosphors and claims over 107% coverage of the Rec. 2020 color gamut according to Formovie. The UST's brightness is listed at 2,800 ANSI lumens with a life of 20,000 hours. Its 0.23:1 throw ratio fixed lens can project an image between 80- and 150-inch diagonal from 1.4 to 2.5 feet from the screen. It's one of the few projectors currently available that supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and uses the Android TV 11.0 OS for streaming apps. The built-in soundbar is tuned by Bowers & Wilkins, and is able to deliver excellent dynamics and detail. In addition to the top spot for visual quality in the Showdown, the Formovie Theater ranked best for audio quality in our follow-up sound testing.

The projector has three HDMI 2.1 inputs (one with eARC), two usb 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio out, S/PDIF, and Ethernet. It comes with a one year warranty.

Greetings from Brasil! 🇧🇷 I currently own an Epson 5040ub, very good SDR image, nice blacks, but poor HDR with dim and dull image. How would the Formovie compare to the Epson? Thank you!
