LG has bolstered its 4K projector family with the BU60PSM, a 6,000 ANSI lumen model featuring 21:9 aspect ratio support to take advantage of advanced wide-screen conferencing apps including Microsoft Teams Front Row.

The new single-chip DLP projector follows other recent industrywide introductions that support 21:9, which appears to be becoming a more critical feature for both conference room and classroom environments where it is being utilized for side-by-side viewing of multiple documents, or where a video or graphics may be shared alongside an interactive white board. However, LG's ProBeam BU60PSM is unusual for its 3840x2160 UHD max resolution and support for HDR10 content, as most commercial models top out at WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution. (Utilizing the 21:9 aspect in the BU60PSM results in 2560x1080 resolution, LG reports.)

Otherwise, the BU60PSM shares similar attributes to some other well-outfitted LG models that precede it, including a 20,000 hour laser+phosphor light source and flexible mounting options. The projector features a wide 1.6X zoom lens with a 1.2-1.9:1 throw ratio, and supports images up to 300-inches diagonal. A 100-inch image can be thrown within a range of 9.4 to 15.2 feet. A generous lens shift function, ±50% vertical and ±20% horizontal, is provided, and up to 12-point warping allows for geometric corrections in challenging installation environments.

Also on board is LG's WebOS Wi-Fi wireless platform that includes an integrated web browser, and support for screen mirroring via Miracast. Wireless sharing from mobile devices is supported for iOS and Android via LG's TV Plus app, and from network connected DLNA-compatible sources. Bluetooth is also available for sending sound to an outboard wireless speaker or sound system, and there's a pair of built-utility speakers, each driven by 5 watts of amplification.

Furthermore, the wired connection panel on the BU60PSM is robust, with a pair of HDMI ports with HDCP 2.2 support (one with ARC), two USB A (2.0) ports, a pair of RJ-45 ports including one for a LAN connection and one for HDBaseT signal and control, an RS232-C serial port, and a 3.5 mm analog audio out.

Finally, the BU60PSM follows other LG models in delivering exceptional brightness for its compact and lightweight chassis, which comes in at 14.6 x 6.1 x 12.8 inches (WHD) and 21.4 pounds.

The LG BU60PSM is shipping and available for purchase now at a list and street price of $4,199.
