Optoma GT1080HDRx User Reviews

Optoma is taking their old releases, sticking an "X" on the end of the model name and selling them as new releases. This Gt1080hdrx is the same gt1080hdr that I used almost 3 years ago. The control is different and they hacked off the vga inputs from the back..thats all. AND kept the price the same when it should have been cheaper after 3 years out in the market. Anyway, Its a great 1080p projector. Some color calibration required depending on how picky you are. Very bright for ambient light viewing. The best part is that its a short throw (0.5:1) so you can place it a couple of feet from the wall/screen and have a huge image (which is good if you dont have space, or dont want to run cables to behind your sofa etc. or dont want to pay at least 3x as much for a good ust). Not much else to say about this projector that wasnt said 3 years ago in all the reviews. If you're looking for a sub 1000$ projector thats bright and short throw then this is it. You may be able to find a 4k one for that price but its not going to be high lumens and a good short throw like this one. I mean, 4k would be great but prices are up there, you cant really see a difference between 4k and 1080p unless you have both side by side to remind your brain... and there's not a lot of 4k content out there (for me anyway). Thinking about what to get? For price, short throw and brightness get the optoma gt1080hdrx. Save some cash for when the bright 4k short throw projectors drop in price in a couple of years (and when hopefully everything will be 4k streaming etc). Then invest in another projector. My beef is that this projector should be cheaper...but I recommend it.
