Panasonic Connect says it is close to shipping the PT-RZ14K, a new 3-chip DLP model evolved from the small-chassis PT-RQ25KU series. Rated at 14,000 ISO21118 lumens, the WUXGA-resolution PT-RZ14K joins two 4K models at 20,000 and 16,000 lumens (the PT-RQ25K and PT-RQ18K), and a pair of existing WUXGA models at 21,000 and 16,800 lumens (the PT-RZ24K and PT-RZ17K)—all taking advantage of technical advances introduced in the PT-RQ25KU, said to be the smallest and lightest 20K-lumen 3DLP projector in its class.

The PT-RZ14K makes considerable progress over the PT-RZ12K model that precedes it, coming in about 40% smaller and 20% lighter at approximately 21.6 x 8.7 x 22.4 inches and 77.2 pounds. It also brings along some key features, such as a slot to accept Intel Smart Display Modules (SDM) for customizable connectivity, and Panasonic's NFT functionality for making setting adjustments by touch via a smartphone. The projector also comes with a preactived upgrade kit for Panasonic's Geometry Manager Pro software to assist with projector control, brightness control, geometry adjustments, edge-blending, and color matching.

The laser engine in the PT-RZ14K is rated for 20,000 hours to half-life at full brightness—which it can achieve with a standard 110-120-VAC power outlet. It's a sealed, liquid-cooled system with an IP5X dust rating and no filter to change, making the projector essentially maintenance-free and suitable for long-term placement in hard-to-reach locations. The Multi Laser Drive Engine enhances reliability and a Backup Input function protect against service interruptions in mission-critical environments.

A wide range of optional lenses is available for the PT-RZ14K, ranging from a 0.779 to 1.03:1 short zoom to an 8.83 to16.6:1 long zoom, and including a new 0.924-1.12:1 short zoom also set to be shipped in Q3. Image quality is said to be excellent thanks to rated 25,000:1 Full On/Full Off dynamic contrast, and new scene analysis processing that is said to better recognize light and dark areas of the image to enhance realism.

Along with the SDM card slot, the PT-RZ14K is equipped with a connection panel includes a pair of HDMI ports with HDCP2.3 compatibility, a DisplayPort connector (also with HDCP 2.3), BNC multiprojector sync inputs and outputs (including for 3D), and a variety of control ports including RS-232C in and out, 3.5 mm jacks for wired remotes, USB ports for 5V/2A power and an optional wireless module, and an RJ45 network LAN port compatible with the PJLink protocol.

The Panasonic PT-RZ14K is expected to be available in September. Pricing was not announced.
